Asalha Puja Day 2026

An important Buddhist religious day commemorating the day the Buddha delivered his first sermon, the "Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta," to the five ascetics (Pancavaggiya) in the Isipatana Deer Park. It also marks the day the first monk was ordained, completing the Three Jewels: the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha.
Buddhists traditionally perform merit-making activities such as offering alms, observing precepts, listening to sermons, and participating in circumambulation to remember the virtues of the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha, and to apply their principles in their lives.
