Chili Paste/Nam Phrik has been since the Ayutthaya era. The word “Nam Phrik” comes from cooking by pestle herbs: chili, garlic, onions, and strong-smelling spices together, for dipping with various vegetables. Shrimp Paste Chili Paste is pounded together with chilli, garlic, dried shrimp and eaten with fresh vegetables, fried vegetables and mackerel.
